Actress Shivangi Verma, who has been part of shows like Choti Sarrdaarni, Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, and recently appeared in Badass Ravi Kumar, is all set to welcome Lord Ganesha into her home this year with devotion and joy. For her, Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a festival but a celebration of love, culture, and togetherness.

Talking about what the festival means to her and her family, Shivangi says, “Ganesh Chaturthi has always been special to us. It’s that time of the year when the whole family comes together, prays together, and spreads positivity. For me, Bappa’s arrival is like inviting happiness and strength into our lives.”

This year, Shivangi will be keeping an eco-friendly Ganpati idol at her home for 1.5 days. She explains, “We bring Ganpati every year, and I personally prefer keeping him for one and a half days. It’s short but extremely sweet and filled with devotion. In Mumbai, the energy during Ganesh Chaturthi is unmatched. I have visited pandals over the years, and every time I see the crowd and enthusiasm, it fills me with immense joy. The experience here is magical.”

Like every true devotee, food is an inseparable part of the celebration for her. With a smile she adds, “My absolute favorite during Ganesh Chaturthi is modak, especially the steamed ukadiche modak. Apart from that, puri-bhaji and puran poli are also a must-have. It’s a time when I happily indulge in all the traditional delicacies without thinking twice.”

On how the festival changes the city’s mood, she shares, “Mumbai literally transforms during Ganesh Chaturthi. The lights, the decorations, the chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya echoing in the streets—it’s impossible not to feel the festive spirit. The city becomes more vibrant, united, and full of positive energy.”

Shivangi also believes it is important to pass on traditions to the younger generation. “I think parents should involve kids in all rituals, from decorating the idol to making prasad. This way they feel connected and develop respect for our traditions. Teaching them the significance behind every ritual will ensure the tradition continues.”

When asked what modern twist she would give the celebration, she says, “I think a digital awareness campaign about eco-friendly idols and celebrations would be a wonderful modern twist. Social media has such a wide reach—it can really influence people to celebrate responsibly while keeping traditions intact.”

Before immersing her Ganpati, Shivangi has a heartfelt wish, “My only prayer to Bappa is to bless everyone with good health, happiness, and peace. I also wish for more love and compassion in this world, because that’s what we need the most
