Arijit Singh India's most beloved singer announced his retirement from  playback singing on Tuesday, 27 January 2026. Singer has decided to stop playback singing. He will now be pursuing filmmaking and creating his own independent music. This decision of Arijit's has shocked his fans, leaving millions disappointed. Singer Shreya Ghoshal have also reacted to Arijit's decision and expressed her opinion. 

Singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, "This is a new phase in Arijit Singh's career, and I am truly excited to hear, see, and experience what this talented artist will offer next! I would never call this the end of an era. A high-caliber artist like him can never be confined to traditional frameworks or fixed molds. Dear Arijit, it's time to soar high!"

Besides this, many other singers have also commented on Arijit's decision. Udit Narayan says, "Arijit has done great work in a very short time. He has earned awards, name, fame, money, and immense fan following. He has witnessed all this while remaining grounded even at the peak of his success. If he wants to retire, it's his decision, but he won't leave music." His name will forever remain in people's hearts."

Many welcomed Arijit Singh's decision, while some expressed surprise. He participated in the reality show 'Fame Gurukul' in 2005.  Later, in 2011, he made his debut in playback singing with the song 'Phir Mohabbat' from the film 'Murder 2', starring Emraan Hashmi.  Arijit has sung more than 300 songs in various languages ​​to date. He gained popularity in 2013 with the touching song 'Tum Hi Ho' from 'Aashiqui 2'. He has sung many chartbuster songs like 'Channa Mereya', 'Agar Tum Saath Ho', 'Raabta', 'Kesariya', 'Gerua', 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', and 'Chaleya'.
