When Subedaar took shape, it wasn’t an elaborate narration that brought Anil Kapoor on board, it was instinct the megastar revealed during a conversation with a leading publication. The collaboration between the actor and director Suresh Triveni began during an advertisement shoot, where a creative spark was instantly evident.

As Anil Kapoor recalls that “Main Suresh sahab ke saath ek ad kar raha tha aur kahin na kahin jab main kisi ke saath kaam karta hoon na, toh ek energy feel hoti hai, ek vibration milti hai. this filmmaker, is, I think, will do something, too special. Not only with me, with anybody. And if I get the opportunity, to work with him, it'll be great for me. Ek shot ke baad, do shot ke baad, baith ke baat karne ke baad, yaar this is someone very special. ‘Yaar yeh aadmi kamaal ka hai. Bahut bada filmmaker hai. I have to work with him.’ That was my instinct. humne ek-do ads kiye phir hum bhul gaye.”

That instinct resurfaced when Suresh Triveni the Director and Vikram Malhotra the producer of the film eventually approached Anil Kapoor with Subedaar. The trust was so absolute that the actor didn’t wait for a script session. “Maine story bhi nahi suni. Maine seedha bola, done. I said I’m doing the film.”

Such confidence reflects Suresh Triveni’s reputation within the industry, a filmmaker known for emotional depth, narrative restraint, and extracting authenticity from performances. On set, his process emphasized truth over theatrics, allowing actors the space to explore and refine moments until they felt completely honest.

Having built a formidable foundation as one of India’s most respected ad filmmaker as well known for crafting emotionally resonant stories within seconds, Suresh Triveni continues to bring that precision and sensitivity to cinema. As he gears up for Subedaar which is set to release on 5th March on Amazon Prime Videos, he further establishes his distinct voice, and is now gearing up for his next ambitious venture, Maa Behen, marking another compelling chapter in his evolving directorial journey.
