Tamil film actor Abhinay, who starred along with actor Dhanush in his debut film Thulluvadho Illamai, passed away at his residence in the city early on Monday morning. For the past several years, he had been struggling with liver-related disease. Abhinay's battle with liver disease was made public in recent years, as he sought financial assistance to manage his ongoing treatment. His body is currently at his house in Chennai. Representatives from the Nadigar Sangam have been asked to assess the situation and perform the funeral as he doesn't have family members to perform the last rites.
Earlier, the actor had disclosed that his health condition was serious, with doctors providing a grim prognosis. In a video appeal that circulated widely, he stated, "I do not know if I will be around for longer," and he disclosed that doctors told him that he would only live for another year and a half. Abhinay began his career with a significant role in 'Thulluvadho Ilamai', alongside Dhanush, which marked the debut of both actors. Over the course of his career, Abhinay accumulated more than 15 credits across Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada cinema, participating in films, advertisements, and voice dubbing work.
As his medical expenses mounted, Abhinay sought financial help from the film fraternity and the public. Comedian KPY Bala responded to his request and provided monetary support. The viral video appeal also prompted several other industry colleagues to come forward. Dhanush, Abhinay's co-star from his debut film, was among those who contributed, reportedly donating Rs 5 lakh. KPY Bala provided an additional Rs 1 lakh to assist with his treatment. His last public appearance was at a film press conference in Chennai a few weeks ago.
