Subashini Balasubramaniyam, Tamil television actress, known for her role in the popular Sun TV serial Kayal, was found dead at her residence in Chennai on Monday, April 6, 2026. She was a 36-year-old. Her death has left the entertainment industry and her fans in shock. According to the media reports, her body was discovered at her apartment in the Iyyappanthangal area, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Initial reports have suggested that she may have died by suicide, but there has been no official confirmation as the investigation remains ongoing. Her body has been sent for postmortem examination.

According to preliminary information cited in local media reports, the actor may have been experiencing emotional distress before her death. Investigators are examining claims that she had an argument with her husband, Bibin Chandra, during a video call shortly before the incident. Officials reportedly said all aspects are being carefully reviewed.

Born in Sri Lanka, she moved to Chennai to pursue acting and initially took on smaller roles before gaining recognition. Her breakthrough came with Kayal, where her performance earned her a loyal audience and industry attention. She was also known by her screen name Shaashvi Bala.

Balasubramaniyam made her film debut in Ini Avan (2012) and later appeared in other projects while building her television career.

She had more than 430,000 followers on Instagram.
