Veteran Marathi Actor Dr. Vilas Ujawane Passes Away at 61, Last Rites to Be Performed on April 5

Dr. Vilas Ujawane a popular actor who has done work in both Marathi and Hindi entertainment industry. He took his last breath on April 4 (Friday) at the age of 61. He passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mira Road. Dr. Ujwane's body will be cremated tomorrow, Saturday (April 5).  Earlier he suffered from a brain stroke but overcame that. Later his health deteriorated again due to heart related problems. He is survived by his wife and son. 

In 2022 veteran actor suffered from a brain stroke and was admitted to private hospital in Thane, where he underwent treatment ddoe several months. As the days went the medical expenses mounted and his savings depleted, his friend Raju Kulkarni made a heartfelt appeal on Facebook, requesting financial help from artists, organizations, and fans. The industry responded with support, allowing Ujwane to recover and make a brief but cherished return to the screen. Post treatment he resumed his career with role in Marathi film 'kulaswamini' and completed work on ‘26 November’, which is scheduled for release next month. Sadly, he passed away before witnessing the film's premiere.

Vilas was born in Nagpur and pursued a degree in medicine from Nagpur university, but his love towards acting led him to Mumbai, where he craved a niche in theatre, television and cinema.
