In a surprising cross-cultural moment, King Charles and Queen Camilla made their entrance at Westminster Abbey for the annual Commonwealth Day ceremony two weeks ago to the unexpected beats of Dhoom Machale, the title track of the 2004 Bollywood blockbuster Dhoom. The moment, captured on video, quickly went viral, leaving desi viewers around the world both amused and astonished.

A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) summed up the collective reaction: "The Dhoom title track being played for the King and Queen was not on my 2025 bingo card!! ALSO, THE QUEEN’S OUTFIT MATCH IS UNCANNY."

The clip sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many Indian users delighting in the unexpected Bollywood reference at such a grand British royal event.  Social media users quickly drew parallels between the event and Dhoom 2, where Hrithik Roshan's character, Aaryan Singhania, famously disguised himself as Queen to commit a heist. References included quips like, "Of course they had to play the Dhoom title track as an ode to Hritik dressed as Camilla," and "Yay! Aaryan finally gonna get our Kohinoor back."

The Commonwealth Day event is known for celebrating cultural diversity among member nations, but this musical choice has undoubtedly added a new and unexpected layer of global fusion. Whether it was an intentional nod to Bollywood or a quirky coincidence, Dhoom Machale has now found its place in royal history much to the internet’s delight. Commonwealth Day 2025, observed annually on the second Monday of March (March 10th this year), celebrated the unity of 56 independent member countries bound by the Commonwealth Charter's shared values. The BBC broadcast the event live.
