East Bengal's title sponsors apologise to fans for poor show

East Bengal's title sponsors Quess Corp, have tendered an apology to their fans after drawing flak recently on social media and in general for their poor show in the I-League and inability to build a proper team for the season.

Spanish coach Alejandro Menéndez stepped down with Mario Rivera Campesino taking overs the reins. The club now languishes at seventh in the points table after nine matches.

In recent weeks, the fans have turned against the investing company and have engaged in war of words on social media. "From day one of its existence, QEBFC management's top priority was to give a great fan experience through different fan engagement activities," Quess East Bengal FC said in a tweet post. "Social network being a powerful medium, we tried to make it a platform to reach out to the large and ever growing fan base of EAST BENGAL club.

"QEBFC management expresses its sincere regret and apology for any statement/comment which have hurt our fan base and anyone in the East Bengal Family. "QEBFC has taken necessary action and will ensure till its existence that no such repetitions are done to hurt or negatively impact the legacy of the club. "It is important to ensure that the glory and dignity of the century old club continues even beyond 31st May 2020 for followers and fans across the globe and for potential future investors/sponsors," the post read.

The red and gold side will be without a sponsor after this season as Bengaluru-based Quess Corp, are set to sever ties with them. Last month, Quess East Bengal CEO Sanjit Sen and COO Biswajit Chatterjee were heckled by the fans after the Kolkata giants lost 1-3 against Gokulam Kerala in an I-League match in Kalyani. Sen and Chatterjee were slapped and hit with shoes by the angry supporters.
