Manchester [UK], May 3 : Former Manchester United manager and icon Sir Alex Ferguson was admitted to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of the Red Devils' Premier League match against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 84-year-old former United boss, who regularly attends Manchester United's home and away fixtures, was there to catch a clash between two arch-rivals.

As per Sky Sports News, he is conscious and has had precautionary checks.

During his tenure from 1986-2013, Ferguson changed the landscape of English club football, turning United into a trophy-winning juggernaut, leading them to 13 Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League titles and a treble in the 1999 season.

In the aftermath of leaving the club's top job, he served as a club ambassador untill 2025.

Throughout his career with United, Ferguson captured a total of 38 trophies with Manchester United, also three Scottish league titles and four Scottish Cups with Aberdeen.

The other teams that Ferguson managed were St Mirren and Scotland, including managing the latter in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. During his playing days as a forward, he finished as a top goal-scorer in the Scottish Division One in 1965/66.
