Srinagar, July 16 Another 490 people tested positive and 16 succumbed to coronavirus in J&K on Thursday as COVID-19 cases crossed 12,000 in the Union territory.

A statement issued by the information and public relations department said 490 tested positive, 62 in Jammu division and 428 in Kashmir division as the total number of people infected by coronavirus reached 12,156 in J&K.

16 patients died in different hospitals of J&K while 6,446 have recovered completely so far.

The number of active cases is now 5,488 in J&K out of which 887 are in Jammu division and 4,601 are in Kashmir division.
