Two Covid-19 patients succumbed in J&K, taking to 26 the death toll of patients killed by the dreaded virus in the Union Territory, officials said on Wednesday.

Doctors at the government medical college in Anantnag district said a 70-year old man was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia on Monday.

"He died yesterday (Tuesday) and his test report received today (Wednesday) said he had tested positive for the virus," a doctor said.

The deceased belonged to Sarnal area of Anantnag.

Another 55-year old patient belonging Fateh Kadal old city area died in Srinagar's chest diseases hospital after a cardiac arrest on Wednesday.

So far, 1,759 have tested positive in J&K while 843 have completely recovered, and thus, the number of active cases is now 890.
