Agra, Dec 14 With 31 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, Taj city's tally now is 9,851, with 335 active cases. The number of deaths is 169.

So far around four lakh samples have been tested, a health department official said.

The state health department is currently busy preparing jumbo teams of vaccinations who will cover most parts of the city, once the vaccine is available.

An official said the process could start in early January. In three stages, the entire population would be covered: health workers engaged in treatment, frontline workers, and last general public.

Deep freezers are available at 31 public health centres. A network is now being developed to provide storage facilities for the vaccines and support the process with an adequate cold chain, officials said.

Meanwhile, schools are all set to reopen and resume classes. The Agra University campus is abuzz with activities as the number of students attending classes has gone up.

The tourism sector is also picking up some momentum, as the number of tourists visiting Agra has gradually gone up. Hotel associations have demanded the lifting of the 5,000 cap on entry to the Taj Mahal daily.
