73-year-old man dies of Covid in Karnataka, tally at 535

A 73-year-old man from Tumakuru succumbed to Covid-19, recording Karnataka's 21st such death even as positive cases rose by 12, raising the state's tally to 535, an official said on Wednesday."As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, cumulatively 535 Covid positive cases have been confirmed in the state, including 21 deaths and 216 discharges," said the official.

A 73-year-old man from Tumakuru succumbed to Covid-19, recording Karnataka's 21st such death even as positive cases rose by 12, raising the state's tally to 535, an official said on Wednesday.

"The positive case count is 535, a 73-year-old male patient with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and history of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma and diabetes died," said a health official in an official statement.

Tumakuru is 71 km northwest of Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Covid positive cases rose by 12 to 535 in the state.

"As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, cumulatively 535 Covid positive cases have been confirmed in the state, including 21 deaths and 216 discharges," said the official.

Nine patients have recovered from the virus, with discharges rising from 207 to 216.

Among 297 active cases, 290 patients are isolated at designated hospitals and are stable, excluding seven in ICU.

Of the 12 new cases, 10 were contacts of earlier cases, while s 35-year-old woman from Davanagere is also suffering from Infuenza Like Illness (ILI).

Among the 12 new cases, six are women and six men. There are five below 17, including a 4-year-old girl.

Eight cases emerged from Kalaburagi and one each from Hukkeri, Belagavi, Nanjanagudu, Mysuru and Tumakuru.
