BMC tests 171 Mumbai mediapersons for Covid-19

Around 171 mediapersons were tested for Covid-19 by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a two-day special camp organised here, an official said on Friday.

Mumbai, April 17 Around 171 mediapersons were tested for Covid-19 by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a two-day special camp organised here, an official said on Friday.

The camp was coordinated by Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi following directions from Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray.

A BMC spokesperson said that a request was made by TV Journalists' Association and Mantralaya and Legislature Reporters Association to Uddhav Thackeray to organise such a camp for the mediapersons who go out for reporting at great personal risks.

Accordingly, the camp was organised on April 16-17 in which 171 mediapersons, including reporters and camerapersons, participated. It was held near the Mumbai Press Club premises, opposite the BMC headquarters in south Mumbai.

They were also given instructions on ensuring their personal safety in public places by wearing masks, using sanitisers and other precautions during their course of duty amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
