Andhra Pradesh reported 246 new coronavirus cases till 9 am on Monday, taking the state's total tally to 5,086 and active cases to 2,231, the state Nodal Officer said.

With 2 more corona deaths in the 24 hours till 9 am on Monday, the total death toll climbed to 86. One death was reported in Kurnool district and another in Anantapur district.

On Monday, Andhra Pradesh's mortality rate dipped to 1.33 per cent from 1.43 per cent earlier on. As per data released on Monday, Andhra Pradesh holds 9th position on this count among the Indian states. India's mortality rate was 2.86 per cent on Monday.

As many as 47 more patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday, taking the state tally to 2,770.

The state tested 15,633 samples on Sunday, and 15,173 in 24 hours till 9 am on Monday, the officer said.

Monday also witnessed an increase in corona cases among returnees from other states 1,159 cases compared with Sunday's 1,107 cases. As many as 22 persons in this category were discharged from hospitals.

Among foreign returnees, 6 new cases were detected, taking the total to 210 and active cases to 187 on Monday.
