Delhi police detain, let off over 3,000 for violating lockdown

Delhi Police has started acting tough against lockdown violators, detaining as many as 3,763 people so far under the Delhi Police Act and later letting them off after a warning.

New Delhi, March 31 Delhi Police has started acting tough against lockdown violators, detaining as many as 3,763 people so far under the Delhi Police Act and later letting them off after a warning.

Police spokesperson Anil Mittal told on Tuesday that 239 persons were proceeded against under Section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to a government order).

The police also impounded 546 vehicles under the Delhi Police Act, he said, adding the police also issued 1,254 movement passes (curfew passes) on Tuesday.
