Gandhinagar, June 30 Gujarat's coronavirus tally rose to 32,643, as 620 fresh patients were detected on Tuesday, with Surat, for the first time, emerging ahead of Ahmedabad with the maximum number of cases. There were 20 deaths taking the toll to 1,848.

It was the fourth day in a row where over 600 cases were detected. With an average of 602 cases daily, the state has registered 4,214 positive cases in the last week of June.

On Tuesday, Surat, which is now emerging as the new hotspot for corona as Ahmedabad's cases are on the declining trend, reported 199 cases and Ahmedabad, 197.

At the third place was Vadodara with 52 new cases, and followed by Valsad with 20, Jamnagar with 18, Gandhinagar with 16, Anand with 14, Patan with 11, Kutch with nine, Bharuch, Junagadh and Bhavnagar with eight each, Mehsana with seven, Kheda and Rajkot with six each, Panchmahals and Aravali with five each, Sabarkantha, Botad and Surendranagar with four each, Gir-Somnath, Amreli and Porbandar with three each, Mahisagar, Morbi and Navsari with two each and Banaskantha, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Narmada with one each. There was one patient from another state.

The only good news is that, since last couple of days, the number of deaths, which had been over 30 for almost entire June, has now come down around 20.

Of Tuesday's fatalities, Ahmedabad accounted for nine, Surat for four, Gandhinagar and Valsad to two each and Junagadh, Patan and Navsari with one each.

Ahmedabad has reported the bulk of deaths - 1,444, and is followed by Suraat with 159, Vadodara with 51, Gandhinagar with 31, Aravalli and Patan with 16 each, Panchmahals with 15, 13 each in Bhavnagar and Anand and 11 in Mehsana.

As many 809 deaths have been reported during June. Gujarat has one of the highest mortality rate for corona in the country, at 5.66 per cent.

Of the total cases, Ahmedabad leads with 20,933, followed by Surat with 4,829, Vadodara with 2,272, Gandhinagar with 654, Mehsana with 276, Rajkot with 269, Bhavnagar with 260, Anand with 221, Bharuch with 218, Jamnagar with 213, Aravali with 207, Patan with 206, Banaskantha with 178, Panchmahals with 175, Sabarkantha with 174, Kutch with 159, Kheda with 158, Valsad with 150, Surendranagar with 142 and Mahisagar with 137 positive cases.

On Tuesday, the health authorities carried out 5,924 RT-PCR tests, taking their total to 3,73,663.

A total of 422 patients were discharged, taking the cumulative number to 23,670.

There are 6,928 active cases, out of which the condition of 6,857 is stable, whereas 71 critical patients are on ventilators.

There are 2,47,783 people quarantined in the state - 2,44,370 at home and 3,413 in government facilities.
