Even after having healthy diet, some wrong habits can lead to poor digestion, increased acidity, bloating, or heaviness in the body. Avoiding certain things, especially after lunch and dinner, can help keep digestion going well. Many people drink water immediately after eating. However, drinking too much water immediately should be avoided. This can affect the enzymes needed for digestion. It is considered more appropriate to drink water shortly after a meal.

Some people have the habit of sleeping immediately after eating, especially after dinner. This habit is not good for health. Sleeping immediately after eating can cause acidity, heartburn, or indigestion. It is beneficial to keep a gap of at least two hours between dinner and sleep. Avoid sitting immediately after lunch or using your mobile phone continuously. Walking or doing some exercise helps improve digestion. This makes the body feel less heavy. However, it is also not advisable to exercise vigorously immediately after eating. This can put strain on the stomach.

Many people have the habit of drinking tea or coffee immediately after meals. But this can reduce the absorption of some nutrients in the body. Especially, it can affect the process of iron digestion in the body. Therefore, it is better to avoid tea and coffee immediately after meals. Eating heavy and oily foods late at night can slow down digestion. Due to this, you cannot sleep well and you may feel tired in the morning. Eating a light and balanced meal at night is beneficial for the body.

Also, do not eat fruits after meals. A full meal is important during meals. Eating fruits immediately after a meal can sometimes prove detrimental to digestion. It is generally considered advisable to maintain a short interval between consuming fruits and your main meal. Maintaining good health requires more than just a proper diet; post-meal habits are equally important. Avoiding small, common mistakes can aid in improving digestion and help the body remain healthier.
