New Delhi, Nov 20 India has reported 45,882 new cases in the last 24 hours pushing its cumulative tally to 90,04,365, data from the Union Health Ministry showed on Friday.

The deaths have risen to 1,32,162 with 584 more reported in the past one day.

The number of active cases stood at 4,43,794.

As many as 84,28,409 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The testing data from the Indian Council of Medical Research showed that 10,83,397 samples were tested on Thursday while 12,95,91,786 samples have been tested so far.

For the 13th day in a row, fresh cases in India have been less than 50,000. On November 7, India reported 50,356.

Statewise the worst-hit continues to be Maharashtra with 17,63,055 confirmed cases, followed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The Covid situation in Delhi-NCR remains grim with a third wave wreaking havoc. The latest surge has left the healthcare system here gasping for relief. As of Thursday night there has been 5,10,630 confirmed cases and 8,041 deaths so far.

The hospitals in Delhi, both government and private hospitals, as of now, are left with only 9 per cent ICU beds with ventilators, which are extremely crucial for patients with severe disease, as per the Delhi Corona App.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal requested LG Anil Baijal to consider allowing only 50 people to attend weddings and imposing lockdown in market areas which may emerge as hotspots after the national capital witnessed a drastic spike of over 7,000 cases in a day last week.
