Lockdown likely to extend in MP after May 3

Bhopal, April 28 Madhya Pradesh readied itself for a longer haul under lockdown beyond May 3 as 75 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours, 31 of them in Indore. The state's coronavirus tally touched 2,165 on Monday.

Seven more patients succumbed to COVID-19 till Monday evening taking the death toll in the state to 110. Of these, three deaths were reported in Indore, three in Bhopal and one in Mandsaur, officials said. Indore alone accounts for 60 deaths.

Indore recorded 31 new cases, followed by Bhopal and Ujjain at 13 each, Jabalpur at 10, Five at Raisen and one each at Hoshangabad and Dewas.

A new district Harda reported the first case on Monday taking the spread to 27 districts out of 51. Indore has the highest tally of COVID-19 cases at 1,207 followed by Bhopal (428) and Ujjain (119).

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who took part in the prime minister's video conference with leaders of nine states, directed the officials to prepare proposals for corona treatment, preparations for conducting economic activities as per the Centre's instructions after May 3.

Chouhan said the state government will act on all points after receiving detailed instructions from the Centre. Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Director General of Police Vivek Johari, Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman and other officers were present during the prime minister's conference.

Prevention of corona infection, delivery of essential commodities as well as providing other civic amenities in the containment areas were discussed in the meeting the chief minister had with his ministerial colleagues and bureaucrats.
