New Delhi, July 13: As the Covid 19 infection rate eases in India, many expatriates who had returned home, are now eager to come back notwithstanding a possibility of a third wave.

Sources said that about 60 per cent of the expats who were living in India had left for their home countries in the wake of the second wave that hit India in May and June.

However, limited flights operating on the international routes are gradually being opened up.

"Many expats, especially from Japan, Singapore and South Korea are looking to come back to India. Many of the expats with work visas had left. Even those who stayed back had sent their families back home. But now, with things improving, they are returning," Sanjeev K Ahuja, promoter of Asian Community News—a platform that works closely with the East Asian community told India Narrative.

Ahuja pointed out that Covid 19 cases have also increased in a few East Asian countries including Japan.

Meanwhile, India is all focused to increase the availability of Covid 19 vaccines. The country registered 31,443 news cases in the last 24 hours.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the new Health Minister, said in a tweet that the positivity rate is at 2.25 per cent. As many as 37.7 crore people have been vaccinated so far. However, only about 7.33 crore are fully vaccinated.
