Wellington, Aug 20 New Zealand reported five new coronavirus cases on Thursday, which were all linked to the Auckland family cluster, taking the total number of active infections in the country to 101.

Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a daily briefing that there are no new cases in managed isolation, reports Xinhua news agency.

Of the five new cases, four are Auckland-based, while one is currently in the Waikato Hospital near the city, Bloomfield said.

There are six people receiving hospital-level care, but in stable condition, he said.

There are 133 people linked to the cluster who have been moved into the Auckland quarantine facilities.

The five new cases brought the country's total number of confirmed cases to 1,304.

Of the 80 cases in the community outbreak, 78 are linked to the Auckland cluster, and two cases remain under investigation, Bloomfield said.

Auckland will remain in the Covid-19 Alert Level 3 till August 26, while the rest of the country is under Alert Level 2 with relaxed restrictions.
