Bengaluru, June 30 With 14,724 patients discharged, recoveries continued to outnumber 3,222 new Covid cases, while 93 succumbed to the infection in a day across Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Tuesday.

"Recoveries shot up to 27,19,479, with 14,724 patients discharged during the day, while 3,222 new cases registered on Monday took the state's Covid tally to 28,40,428, including 85,997 active cases," said the bulletin.

As epicentre of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru, however, reported only 753 fresh cases on Monday, taking its Covid tally to 12,12,746, including 52,445 active cases, while recoveries rose to 11,44,685, with 10,722 patients discharged in the last 24 hours.

The virus claimed 93 lives, including 16 in Bengaluru Urban, 15 in Dakshina Kannada and 10 in Mysuru district, taking the state's death toll to 34,929 since the pandemic broke out in mid-March a year ago.

Following Bengaluru, 415 positive cases were reported from Mysuru, 385 in Dakshina Kannada and 225 in Shivamogga district across the state.

Out of 1,26,670 tests conducted across the state during the day, 42,796 are were through rapid antigen detection and 83,874 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate was 2.54 per cent and case fatality rate 2.88 per cent across the state on Monday.

Meanwhile, 2,05,920 people, including 51,219 above 45 years and 1,49,718 in the 18-44 years age group were vaccinated across the state during the day.

"Cumulatively, 2,24,18,621 people, including senior citizens, healthcare workers and frontline warriors received the jab since the vaccination drive was launched across the southern state on January 16," added the bulletin.
