Three days after Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital, his junior ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Nityanand Rai on Thursday inspected the functioning of various Rapid Antigen Detection Test Centres set up in the national capital.

In the surprise visits, Reddy visited labs in R.K. Puram, Basant Gaon and Naraina area while Rai visited some labs in Aya Nagar Phase-VI, Tigri, Mehrauli and Dakshin Puri.

Shah visited the LNJP hospital on Sunday to check the preparedness in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The visit of the two Ministers of State for Home is significant amid Shah's focus to conduct Covid-19 testing through the new Rapid Antigen methodology which has been approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The Home Minister in a meeting at his North Block office here on Thursday morning also stressed on the Rapid Antigen methodology, saying "it will ramp up testing capacity, and will help in early diagnosis and early treatment".

The Centre as well as the Delhi government is focusing on maximum Covid-19 testing at a time when over 47,102 people have been infected with the deadly virus in the national capital, with as many as 1,904 people succumbing to the dreaded virus.
