The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) on Wednesday said that some of its employees at its corporate office in the national capital's Lodhi Road have tested positive for novel coronavirus.
Sources told that five people have been found infected with the virus.
"The infected employees have been immediately asked to home quarantine themselves and Company's SOP to handle the Covid infection has been put into action. A Government appointed agency has been engaged to do fumigation at SAIL's HQ at Lodhi Road which is being carried out extensively for two days," the SAIL statement said.
The office has been closed for Wednesday and Thursday, and the employees have been asked to work from home.
SAIL has also tied up with two Max and Apollo hospitals in Delhi to facilitate testing of employees who require the same.
Since the company restarted its office in a phased manner, all the required safety measures including sanitisation, thermal checking, hand sanitisers at touch points and fumigation as per requirement were in place, it said.
"Nevertheless, with the detection of corona positive cases, the company has taken all actions with greatest promptitude and is continuously monitoring the situation in consultation with the government agencies," said the statement.
