Liver is an important organ, and it performs numerous critical functions essential for overall health, including metabolism, detoxification, and immune function. On 19 April of each year, we celebrate world liver to create awareness about liver diseases. Every year there is a theme and this year's theme is food is medicine. Through this theme people talk about the importance of balanced nutrition which can help make nutritious foods accessible and affordable.

A balanced diet supports liver function and helps prevent disease. Prioritize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein for optimal liver health and overall well-being.

Foods to Include: Coffee, blueberries, grapes, beetroot juice, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, nuts, fatty fish, olive oil, green tea, spinach.

Foods to Avoid: Alcohol, fatty foods, sugar, processed snacks, refined grains, excessive salt.

Additional Tips for Liver Health:

  1. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  2. Limit alcohol consumption to prevent liver damage.

  4. Avoid unnecessary medications, especially over-the-counter pills.
  5. Get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B.
  6. Undergo regular medical checkups for early detection of liver diseases.
