The leader of the Patanjali Group and Yoga Guru, Ramdev Baba, has criticised US President Donald Trump's trade and economic policies. Ramdev has targeted the use of tariffs by the 47th president against foreign countries for commodities imported into the United States. He called his trade policies economic terrorism and said that Trump has ripped off democracy by threatening developing countries.

US President Donald Trump's tariff-based economic policy and plan has had a rough start because the 47th president has had to go back and forth on imposing tariffs on the trading partners of the greatest economy in the world.

Speaking during the opening of a facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Ramdev harshly criticised Trump's inconsistent policies.

He said, “There is a new era of intellectual colonization. Amid this, ever since Donald Trump rose to power, he created a new world record of 'tariff terrorism'. He has ripped off democracy by threatening poor and developing nations. This is 'economic terrorism'... He is taking the world to a different era. In such a case, India needs to develop. All Indians should unite to build a strong nation and answer all these destructive powers.”

When Ramdev accused Donald Trump of undermining democracy and harming emerging and impoverished countries, his remarks took a polemical turn.

Additionally, in contrast to his recent statements, Ramdev cited the necessity of a united front in opposition to the Trump administration's threat of tariffs.
