Amidst the ongoing military tensions with China over Ladakh issue, there is a consensus among the top policymakers of the Indian government  that negotiations with China should continued in order to resolve the border dispute, but if needed, the country should also be fully prepared for a 'confrontation or battle a with China. According to  reports  the term 'confrontation and fighting' was used in discussions between top policymakers of Modi government regarding the ongoing deadlock on the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. Highly placed sources involved in the discussion said, "We do not want to escalate the confrontation but we will not compromise by bowing to China." The source said, "We are not going to back down and we will face them."

Asked if the Indian government had considered the consequences after the military action, he said, "The government is of the view that if you care about the consequences, you will not be able to move forward." Sources said that when the first news of China's military mobilization was revealed in April, instructions were given to increase patrolling and surveillance. Later, on increasing the number of Chinese troops, the Indian side was also directed to increase the military concentration in the same proportion.

On the question of ending the economic relationship with China, another official said, "It is not easy to join them and then get separated." But the story of India's development will not depend on the relationship with China, which has now lost a great deal of confidence. There is a lot of anger in the country against China. However, the economic interests of the country will also have to be kept in mind. He said that India has no option but to increase military and diplomatic pressure. Another official said, "Nobody is winning the war today and India of the year 2020 is not of the year 1962. India has a huge global alliance and we have to take advantage of it. Through its practice, China wants to create an atmosphere of fear in the entire region and establish itself as a super power. But China needs to understand that they will get concrete answers. '
