Iran has also placed several demands in front of the Trump administration after the US offered a 15-point ceasefire plan to Tehran. The ceasefire plan was submitted to Iran by intermediaries from Pakistan, who have offered to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran, according to the news agency Associated Press.

Iran has demanded the closure of US military bases in the Gulf region as one of its tough conditions to accept a ceasefire plan, setting a difficult proposal for Washington, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the discussions.

Iran's negotiations were planned by the ruling Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In addition to withdrawing the demand of US military personnel from the Gulf nations, Tehran has also demanded the revival of its infrastructure, which has been destroyed during US-Israel operations. Meanwhile, US officials have described the demands of Tehran as unrealistic. US officials told a reporter that these demands from Tehran could make it tough to reach a ceasefire pact.

List of Iran's Set of Demands

Closure of all American military bases in the Gulf

• Financial reparations for attacks on Iran

• A new framework governing the Strait of Hormuz that would allow Iran to collect fees from ships passing through the waterway, similar to Egypt’s Suez Canal

• Guarantees that hostilities would not resume

• An end to Israeli strikes on Iran-aligned Lebanese militia Hezbollah

• Removal of all sanctions imposed on Iran

• Permission to retain its missile programme without negotiations to limit it

This comes after the Trump administration has offered a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran, according to a person briefed on the contours of the plan but who was not authorised to speak publicly about it, reports AP. The proposal comes as the US military is preparing to call up at least 1,000 more troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to supplement some 50,000 troops already in the region.

The proposed framework includes at least one month of ceasefire and the shutdown of Iran's nuclear program and regional activities. Confirming the negotiations with Tehran, Donald Trump said the US was in contact with an Iranian official who is willing to negotiate, stating that the Trump administration is holding talks with "the right people" in Iran who "want to make a deal so badly." He added that both sides were "in negotiations right now"

Here's Ceasefire Conditions Offered by Trump Administration to Tehran

According to the Channel 12 report, some of the requirements that the proposal includes are as follows:

• Iran must dismantle its current nuclear capabilities.

• Tehran must pledge never to develop nuclear weapons.

• Uranium enrichment would not be allowed within Iranian territory.

• Around 450 kg of uranium enriched to 60% would be handed over to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

• Nuclear facilities at Natanz Nuclear Facility, Isfahan Nuclear Technology Centre, and Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant would be dismantled.

• The IAEA would receive full inspection rights and monitoring access inside Iran.

• Iran would move away from its regional proxy strategy.

• Funding, training and arming of allied militias across the region would cease.

• The Strait of Hormuz would remain open as an unrestricted shipping route.

• Iran’s missile programme would face limits on range and stockpile levels.

• Any future missile use would be restricted strictly to self-defence.
