Iran has warned that any attempt to force a change in its government would lead to an attack on the Dimona nuclear site, according to a report by ISNA. The warning given by a senior Iranian military official as the United States and Israel continue to discuss political change in Tehran.

The comments come amid repeated statements from Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu suggesting that regime change in Iran remains a priority. Citing senior Israeli officials, The Jerusalem Post reported that Trump intends to continue the military campaign until a “real change of government in Iran becomes possible”. One official told the outlet that Trump “wants to go ahead with this move in full swing” and has “no intention of slowing down”.

US and Israeli officials say Iran’s leadership is under pressure, not only due to the loss of senior military and government figures early in the conflict, but also because of ongoing attacks on mid-level commanders, units and command centres.

The Dimona facility, officially known as the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Centre, is among Israel’s most secretive sites. Built in the 1950s with French assistance, it was initially described publicly as a textile factory to hide its purpose. Israel maintains that it is a research centre focused on peaceful nuclear applications in science, health and agriculture.

However, international experts widely view the site as central to Israel’s undeclared nuclear weapons programme, believed to produce plutonium for nuclear warheads. Recent satellite imagery has shown new construction activity in the area, which is one of the most heavily secured locations in the world, with restrictions even on aircraft overflight.
