A suspected Iranian drone struck the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station inside the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Monday, causing structural damage and a fire, according to US and regional reports. Authorities said embassy personnel were sheltering in place at the time and there were no confirmed casualties.

Saudi officials confirmed that two drones hit the embassy complex early on Tuesday, resulting in a limited fire and material damage. Washington later issued warnings to American citizens in the kingdom to avoid the area and cancelled routine and emergency consular services.

The strike is part of a wider wave of suspected Iranian drone and missile attacks across the Gulf that followed a major US-Israeli military campaign against Iran. Those operations included air strikes on multiple Iranian targets earlier in the week.

In separate incidents, regional governments have reported retaliatory strikes on other diplomatic and military sites. Gulf states and the United States have condemned the escalation and stressed efforts to protect personnel and infrastructure as tensions continue.
