Several people were injured on Friday after a blast was reported near a religious site in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, triggering fear and uncertainty in the city. Initial reports suggested the possibility of multiple casualties, prompting authorities to respond swiftly. The incident raised fresh concerns about public safety, particularly at sensitive locations. Security agencies immediately sealed off the affected area to control the situation and prevent further harm. Residents nearby reported hearing a loud explosion, followed by chaos and emergency sirens, as officials began assessing the scale of injuries and damage caused by the incident.

The blast took place at the Tarlai Imambargah in Islamabad’s Shehzad Town area. Police teams and Rescue 1122 personnel reached the location shortly after the incident and launched rescue operations without delay. Injured victims were stabilized at the scene before being transported to hospitals for further treatment. Investigators began examining the site to establish the cause of the explosion, while law enforcement increased security patrols in adjoining areas as a precautionary measure. Authorities said more details would be shared after preliminary findings were completed.

In response to the incident, emergency measures were enforced at major hospitals, including Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Polyclinic Hospital, and CDA Hospital. A Pims spokesperson confirmed that the decision was taken on the instructions of the hospital’s executive director. Key departments such as emergency care, orthopaedics, burn treatment, and neurology were put on high alert to handle incoming patients. The blast comes within months of a deadly suicide attack near a court complex in Islamabad in November 2025, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the capital.
