Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has once again referred to Kashmir as Pakistan's "jugular vein", asserting that it will remain so and that Pakistan "will not forget it." He also strongly defended the two-nation theory — the ideological basis for the 1947 Partition — in remarks that are likely to draw a strong response from India.

Speaking at an event, General Munir described the audience as the country’s ambassadors and urged them to remember their cultural and ideological roots. “You should definitely tell Pakistan’s story to your children. Our forefathers believed that we are different from Hindus in every aspect of life — our religion, customs, traditions, thoughts, and ambitions. That was the foundation of the two-nation theory.”

The two-nation theory was the ideological basis for the demand for a separate Muslim state prior to India's independence. The movement was led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who later became the first Governor General of Pakistan. The theory runs counter to the idea of a shared history and heritage between India and Pakistan and also contradicts secular values.

“We are not one nation. That is why our forefathers struggled to create this country. They made great sacrifices, as have we, for the creation of Pakistan. We know how to defend our homeland. My dear brothers, sisters, daughters and sons — do not forget the story of Pakistan. Make sure to pass it on to the next generation so their bond with the country remains strong,” General Munir said.

Addressing concerns about foreign investment, he said, “Many believe Pakistan won’t attract investment because of terrorism. But do you think terrorists can dictate the destiny of our country? If the 1.3 million-strong Indian Army, with all its resources, cannot intimidate us, do you think terrorists can overpower the armed forces of Pakistan?”

He also warned of a strong crackdown on separatist movements in Balochistan. “Balochistan is Pakistan’s pride. Do you think it will be taken away so easily? Even ten generations won’t be able to take it from us. Inshallah, we will defeat these terrorists soon. Pakistan will not fall.”

On Kashmir, General Munir reiterated Pakistan’s stance: “Our position is absolutely clear. It was our jugular vein, it will remain our jugular vein, and we will never forget it. We will not abandon our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle.”
