Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of its intelligence agency chief on Monday morning, April 6. According to the IRGC, Brigadier General Majid Khademi, the head of its Intelligence Organisation, died in an airstrike, reported the state-linked news agency, Tasnim.

This marks a major blow to Tehran amid the ongoing war with the US-Israel in West Asia. Khademi was killed in a strike carried out at dawn, where explosions, followed by fire, were reported in several parts of Tehran. This is the second such death of an Iranian intelligence chief in less than a year.

Who Was Majid Khademi?

Majid Khademi was an important person and a senior leader of the IRGC, who was using great technologies and the right resources to strike the enemy with the help of his academic credentials and operational experience. He was holding dual PhDs in National Security and Strategic Defence Sciences.

On June 19, 2025, he was appointed head of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation. Khademi replaced Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike during the "Twelve-Day War" just days earlier in March last year.

In February, during the Gen-Z protest, Khademi had accused US President Donald Trump of fuelling what Iranian officials have described as a "staged murder" strategy, aimed at increasing casualties to justify foreign military intervention.
