The Likud hung posters of Modi as well as US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin alongwith Netanyahu from the roof of Metzudat Ze'ev, the 15-storey Likud party headquarters.

The massive posters with the title "Netanyahu: In another league" were hung along three sides of the building. A Likud spokeswoman said that there would be no poster on the fourth side "for now", Jerusalem Post reported.

Prime Minister Modi also features in a video clip released by Netanyahu for the election campaign. The clips are from Modi's visit to Israel in 2017.

The huge posters are an apparent bid to prove Netanyahu's superiority over rivals as the Likud party boasts of his handshakes with leaders from a totally different 'league' - President Putin and PM Modi.

Ahead of the April elections, the party had hung posters showing Netanyahu shaking hands with US President Trump. The Likud secured a narrow win.

The posters and video come as Netanyahu is set to visit India on a day-long trip on September 9.

According to opinion polls, Netanyahu is facing a tough challenge from rivals. He created history on July 20 by surpassing Israel's first premier David Ben-Gurion's record as the longest-serving Prime Minister.

Netanyahu visited India in January 2018. Modi went to Tel Aviv in 2017, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country.
