The COVID-19 pandemic seems to be putting a massive toll on the political relations between India and China. With China facing the heat from United States and other nations over the careless handling of the pandemic, it looks like world's powerful country just seem to be falling off the hook. Meanwhile, some of the bold decisions  and steps taken by the Indian government also seems to be taking a toll on world's powerful government. Let us have a look at some of the strategic decesions taken by Modi which has led to a tussle between India and China.

Modi's 'Masterstroke' No. 1: Strong relations with America and Donald Trump

Ever since the pandemic began America has been critical of China's attitude towards handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, China had dismissed the idea of Trump being the peacemaker between the two countries in a bid to cool the border issue.

Modi's 'Masterstroke' No. 2: Answer to China in the same language

China was continuously increasing its military strength near the LAC in Ladakh and as soon as the news of the gathering of Chinese troops on the LAC came to light. Immediate action was taken on the part of India and with the deployment of 5 thousand troops, supplies began to be delivered. The Government of India has made it clear that if the matter is not resolved through diplomacy and dialogue, then other options are also ready. Seeing such statements and aggression, China realized that India was not going to soften their stand.

Modi's 'Masterstroke' No. 3: India bold strategic decisions

China was constantly on the move in Ladakh and India was constantly facing it. China hoped that India, under pressure, would halt construction on its LAC. However, India made it clear that no work would stop and it would not bow to any kind of pressure. China did not expect this aggressive attitude of India. When it seemed to China that now the matter could get out of hand, different statements started coming from its side in which there was more talk of reconciliation.

Modi's 'Masterstroke' No. 4: Wise Leadership

As tensions with China began to rise, PM Modi himself came forward and had a meeting with top military officials to find out the situation.  This step of PM Modi fell heavily on China and after coming under pressure from all sides, now China's move has improved a little and he was forced to retreat.
