India is amid dealing with a border dispute and now according to reports, Nepal is now caught in China’s trap. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli whose only focus is to alter the map against India and ignoring the Rui village in North Gorkha region in Nepal which has been captured by China.
According to experts the Nepal authorities, intellectuals and citizens are busy talking about the Indian region in Kalapani, Lipu Lekh, and Limpiyadhura area, while the Nepal government has hidden the issue of encroachment of Chinese in Rui village. The Rui village of Gorkha, which comes under the Rui Bhot of Gorkha, has now come under the occupation of Tibet, the autonomous region of China.
Due to the negligence of the Nepal government and higher government officials, the Chinese occupied the Rui village in North Gorkha region in Nepal. Although the Rui village area is still included in the map of Nepal, there is complete Chinese control over it. The boundary pillars of the village have been removed to legalise the encroachment.
China has occupied Rui village for the past three years and the Communist Party of Nepal has not commented on it. The village has been under the control of Nepal for the last 60 years. As a result, the Gorkhas in Rui village are now living under Chinese rule. According to Nepali newspaper Annapurna, the village has been a part of Tibet since 2017. The village has 72 houses. However, the village is still on the map of Nepal.The pillars of Rui village have also been removed to gain official possession.
According to historian Ramesh Dhungel, the village of Rui and Teigha villages were in the northern part of Gorkha district. Dhungal said, “Rui village is a part of Nepal. Neither Nepal lost it in the war nor was it subject to any special agreement or contract related to Tibet. Nepal lost both Rui and Tegha villages due to negligence at the time of fixing the pillar.”
