A train collided with a semi-tractor-trailer after its got struck in the snow in Gaston County, North Carolina. Video of the horrific accident surfaced online, showing a speeding goods train hitting a truck as the snow engulfed the area, immobilising vehicles.
The accident took place at the intersection of Poplar Street and Airline Avenue on Saturday, January 31, after a powerful “bomb cyclone” snowstorm slammed several parts of the United States. However, the truck driver miraculously escaped from the truck without injury.
Gastonia Police Department stated the accident, asking residents to call 911 if stuck on tracks. "If you are stuck on tracks anywhere, call 911 and give your location so the train line can be contacted to slow or stop oncoming train traffic," Gastonia Police in a Facebook post.
"Road conditions today are dangerous. Ice, snow, and slick surfaces can turn a routine drive into a life-threatening situation in seconds. Large vehicles, hills, intersections, and railroad crossings are especially hazardous," said further.

A viral video of the incident shared on X shows a speeding goods train smashing a blue Swift Transportation semi truck. The truck did not have a trailer attached to it.
Meanwhile, more than 100 drivers were stuck on Interstate 85 northbound in Cabarrus County at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night after crashes and winter weather forced authorities to shut down part the highway.
Exit 60 near Dale Earnhardt Boulevard to Exit 63 near Lane Street was closed and drivers were instructed to avoid the area, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation. The department said icy conditions caused some 18-wheelers to lose momentum and slide, contributing to the traffic backup.
