Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, a lawmaker from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written a letter to Trump condemning his remark and has asked him to take back the comments about 'Islamic terrorism'.

Trump at the 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston on September 22 had said that the United States is "committed to protecting innocent Indian-Americans from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism". Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave him a standing ovation for this remark."I am deeply shocked by the news reports in which you tried to link terrorism with Islam, and the purpose of writing this letter is to record my protest in this regard," Vankwani, who is also the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council, wrote to Trump.

"It is worth noting that all religions, either Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism or any other, forbid the killing of innocent people, and urge strict punishment against culprits," Vankwani said.

Trump's remark hurt the sentiments of billions of people belonging to all religions, said Vankwani.

He reminded Trump that all Islamic nations had extended their support to the United States after the 9/11 attack.

"Therefore, being a Pakistani citizen, I believe that your statement is very painful for entire Pakistani nation," he said.

"Being the country head of only superpower, heavy responsibilities lie on your shoulders to resolve conflicts for the sake of world peace, Vankwani added.
