A Pakistani fighter jet crashed in the Jalalabad region of Afghanistan on Saturday, February 28, according to the Afghan military and police. It said that the pilot was captured alive after he parachuted from the crashed jet amid escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan along the border, according to the news agency AFP.

The incident comes cross border attacks between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and a sudden loud explosion was heard from the fighter jet crash. Pakistani airstrikes on targets in Afghanistan and retaliatory Afghan attacks across the frontier.

Earlier, Pakistan had declared an "open war" after both sides exchanged strikes and casualties mounted. However, the Taliban-ruled Afghan government showed signs of negotiations on Friday that they are ready for dialogue.

Meanwhile, Kabul's Taliban-led forces carried out drone strikes under Operation ‘Rad al-Zulm’ targeting Pakistani military camps in Miranshah and Spinwam, according to security sources cited by TOLOnews.  Pakistan also continued overnight ground and air operations, with security sources telling The Dawn that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) targeted Taliban positions in Nangarhar while troops captured and destroyed multiple border posts.
