Sindh [Pakistan], December 23 : Gold and jewellery worth more than Pakistan Rupees (PKR) 1 crore were stolen from the shrine of well-known Sufi Saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in the Sehwan area of Jamshoro district in Pakistan's Sindh, Pakistan-based vernacular media Express reported.

According to the details, gold given as an offering worth PKR 1,23,72,863 was stolen from Dargah Lal Shahbaz Qalandar during one month.

Sindh's Caretaker Minister for Endowments Umar Soomer took notice of the theft in the Dargah. He suspended the manager of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar's shrine and directed to form a committee to conduct probe, according to Express report.

Furthermore, the caretaker provincial minister directed to register a case against the manager of the Dargah and send the case to anti-corruption. He ordered to recover the stolen gold and jewellery from the accused, Express reported.

Umar Soomer said that orders have been issued to immediately stop the salary and pension of the Dargah manager. Meanwhile, an Awqaf Department spokesperson said that the Dargah manager Zubair Baloch accepted his crime during the investigation. According to the spokesperson, Baloch also confessed to the theft.

Following the theft incident, Sindh's caretaker government has decided to conduct a probe about the managers of all the Dargahs established in Sindh. According to sources, Zubair Baloch was appointed as the manager of the Dargah for many years and he had the offering box's key, Express reported.
