On Tuesday, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant organization, claimed responsibility for hijacking the Jaffar Express, a passenger train operated by Pakistan Railways, and taking all 100 passengers hostage in Balochistan. The group released a statement announcing that they had seized control of the train, and reported the deaths of six military personnel, while over 100 passengers remained hostage.

According to the BLA, the operation was carried out by their Majeed Brigade Fateh Squad and STOS units. The hijacking occurred while the Jaffar Express was traveling from Quetta in Balochistan to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a threatening message, the BLA warned, "If the occupying forces attempt any military action, the consequences will be dire. All hostages will be executed, and the responsibility for the ensuing bloodshed will rest entirely with the occupying forces." The group emphasized that the attack was executed by its specialized units—Majeed Brigade, STOS, and Fateh Squad—and promised retaliation against any military intervention. "Any military incursion will be met with a powerful response," the statement concluded.
