A video has gone viral showing a woman slapping a security officer at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, prompting the Madinah Region Police to respond to the viral clip. The video shows a woman attempting to use an unauthorised route to enter the mosque. The officer, performing his duty at the spot, asked her to use an alternative route instead. The woman refused and suddenly slapped him on the face, provoking him to retaliate.
"The Madinah Police Department is currently investigating the incident of a woman assaulting a security officer while he was performing his duties and is completing the necessary legal procedures," said the Madinah Police in a post on X.
The General Directorate of Saudi Public Security issued a statement on X on Saturday, March 29, stating that the police intervened immediately and completed all necessary legal procedures in accordance with regulations. However, authorities have not disclosed the woman's identity or nationality.

Some social media users claimed that the woman is from Pakistan, while others alleged that the incident occurred at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. However, the only credible and mainstream media report came from the Saudi Gazette, which confirmed that the incident took place at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
A viral 36-second video shows two women attempting to cross the plastic barricades installed on the road. One of them, seen wearing a hijab, had already crossed the barricade. A security guard rushed to stop them. The woman ahead in the hijab slapped the security guard, who then hit her back multiple times. Other male security officials intervened, with one of the guards holding the woman by the arm, further infuriating her. The women then appeared to turn back. No female official was seen at the spot.
