Lahore, June 7 Police in Lahore have arrested a teenager for allegedly raping a 10-year-old boy on the rooftop of a mosque in the city, the media reported.

According to the FIR registered by the father of the victim under Section 377B, the accused, aged 15, lured his son to the roof of the mosque in Nawankot area after the congregation prayer started, reports The Express Tribune.

The complainant stated that the accused, Faizan, allegedly forced himself on the minor boy and added that the latter went home and told his mother about the incident, Express Tribune reported.

The complainant urged the police to register a case against the suspect over the alleged sexual assault and bring the perpetrator to justice.

At least 3,852 children 2,068 girls and 1,784 boys were sexually abused across Pakistan in 2021, according to Sahil, an NGO working against child abuse.

In its report titled 'Cruel Number', it said that at least 10 children were abused every day through 2021.

The report stated that acquaintance with the victim and the victim's family topped the list of perpetrators of child sexual abuse.

The statistics showed that out of a total of 3,852 cases, there were at least 1,715 cases where the abusers had acquaintance with victims or the their families.
