Trump to meet PM Modi, Imran Khan in New York

US President Donald Trump will meet Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday, a day after he joins Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the "Howdy Modi" event in Houston and will again hold a meeting in New York with PM Modi on Tuesday, a senior authority has said.

US President Donald Trump will meet Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday, a day after he joins Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the "Howdy Modi" event in Houston and will again hold a meeting in New York with PM Modi on Tuesday, a senior authority has said. Both meetings would take place in New York with the leaders of India and Pakistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's 74th session, a senior official in the administration told reporters on Friday in a preview of Trump's New York commitments next week.Trump's first event on Monday (September 23), the first day of his stay in New York on the sidelines of the meeting of the UN General Assembly, will be the global call to safeguard religious freedom, the official said, describing it as a key event.The president is planned to meet the following leaders after that. Prime Minister Khan of Pakistan, President (Andrzej Sebastian) Duda of Poland, Prime Minister (Jacinda) Arden of New Zealand, Prime Minister Lee (Hsien Loong) from Singapore, President al Sisi of Egypt and President Moon (Jae-in) of South Korea," said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.Trump will deliver his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (September 24). He will be holding a number of bilateral meetings after that."Prime Minister (Boris) Johnson of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Modi of India, Secretary General of the United Nations," the official said, adding that the president will also meet with his Iraqi counterpart and end the day with a diplomatic reception.The PM Modi-Trump meeting in NY is anticipated to set the tone of the two countries ' bilateral relations over the next few years. It is expected that the two leaders will discuss a number of bilateral, regional and global problems, including attempts to resolve the increasing bilateral trade conflicts, potential defence and energy deals and the peace process in Afghanistan.
