While candle marches mark non-violent protests in India, the demonstrators in Hong Kong adopted an artistic way to revolt.

As a part of the months-long protests over the now-suspended extradition bill that allowed criminal suspects to be extradited to mainland China for prosecution, protestors are getting different types of tattoos such as an umbrella, a bauhinia flower or a bleeding eye, reflecting distinct messages.

The bleeding eye tattoo gained popularity after a female protester's eye was badly injured on August 11. Demonstrators claimed that she was shot by a policeman with a projectile, reported CNN.

One of the unverified accounts shared a snap of her blood eye imprint on the photo-sharing application Instagram with an eye emoji as the caption.

The tattoo showcases an eye, drawn in the thick black border and a drop of blood falling from the pupil.

On the other hand, the bauhinia flower, which is Hong's Kong's emblem, was chosen to show the elegance and beauty of the city.

Whereas the umbrellas, which gained popularity during the 2014 Umbrella Movement denote protection against the tear gas fired by police.

When a tattoo artist offered free Hong Kong-themed tattoos throughout July, around 100 people accepted his offer. He revealed that while some were only interested in getting an imprint, there were many who got inked to showcase their protest.
