Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi 2026: Powerful Ganesh Puja and Kalash Ritual for Wish Fulfillment

Angaraki Chaturthi, especially auspicious when it falls on a Tuesday, is a powerful day to worship Lord Ganesha and overcome life's challenges. Devotees believe that performing the 'filling the Kalash' ritual on this day effectively conveys their deepest desires to the deity. If you're experiencing career, business, or personal setbacks, consider performing this ritual on the auspicious Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi on May 5th, 2026.Spiritually significant, observing a fast on Angaraki Chaturthi is said to equal the merit of fasting on all 21 Sankashti Chaturthis in a year.

As this day honors both Lord Ganesha and Mars, worshiping on this occasion can greatly help alleviate 'Mangal Dosha,' resolve debts, and remove obstacles. The fast concludes at moonrise with an Arghya offering to the moon, bringing peace and prosperity. The Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi on May 5, 2026, is particularly potent. Performing the 'filling the Ichchapurti Kalash' (Wish-Fulfilling Pot) ritual during this time is believed to fulfill heartfelt desires through Lord Ganesha's blessings. The ritual's procedure and benefits are detailed below.

To perform this ritual, you will require a copper or brass Kalash (sacred pot), Akshata (unbroken rice grains), a betel nut (Supari), a coin, turmeric and vermilion (Kumkum), flowers, and 21 pairs of Durva grass blades.

1. The Method of Sankalpa (Solemn Vow): First, take a small amount of water in your right palm. Using your left hand to support your right, hold the water, Akshata, turmeric, vermilion, and flowers in your right palm while mentally meditating upon and remembering Lord Ganesha. Share your heartfelt wishes or resolutions with Bappa (Lord Ganesha), and then pour that water into the Tamhan (ritual plate).

2. Filling the Kalash (Sacred Pot): Now, take the Kalash (sacred pot). Fill it with pure water. Add one betel nut, one coin, a pinch of turmeric and vermilion (Kumkum), some flowers, and a few grains of Akshata (unbroken rice grains) into the water. Tie an auspicious Rakshasutra (sacred red thread) around the neck of the Kalash.

3. The Swastika and Mantra Chanting: While chanting the mantra "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" with deep devotion, draw a Swastika symbol on the Kalash using vermilion (Kumkum). Then, offer turmeric and vermilion to it to perform the ritual worship of the Kalash.

4. Offering Durva Grass: Offer 21 pairs of Durva grass (which have been anointed with turmeric and vermilion) into the Kalash. Place this Kalash in front of Bappa's idol or in a safe spot within your home's prayer room (Devghar).

5. The Next Day's Procedure (Visarjan/Immersion): On the morning of the second day, after taking a bath, release the water from the Kalash—along with the Durva grass—into a flowing body of water. If flowing water is not available nearby, place the Durva in the Nirmalya (floral waste) collection, and pour the water from the Kalash into a potted plant at home (such as a Tulsi plant or other flowering plants).

Benefits of This Ritual:

Fulfillment of Wishes: Filling this Kalash with faith helps resolve pending tasks and brings them to completion.

Removal of Negativity: The water used in the Kalash and the accompanying mantra chanting help eliminate negative energy from the home.

Financial Stability: The coin and betel nut placed in the *Kalash* symbolize prosperity and help alleviate financial difficulties. Remedy for Mangal Dosha: Performing this remedy on the day of Angarki mitigates the adverse effects of the planet Mars.
