Low in calories and naturally sweet, watermelon keeps the body hydrated and promotes glowing skin. However, many people make a common mistake after eating watermelon they drink water immediately. According to Ayurveda, this practice should be avoided. Let’s know the reasons behind it.

Nutritional Benefits of Watermelon: Watermelon is rich in lycopene, a powerful carotenoid responsible for its vibrant red color. Lycopene is an antioxidant that helps eliminate free radicals, detoxifies the body, and prevents cell damage. This fruit is also packed with essential nutrients, including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, all of which contribute to overall health and well-being.

Why You Should Not Drink Water After Eating Watermelon?

Watermelon consists of 92% water, while the human body is composed of around 70% water. Drinking water immediately after eating watermelon can lead to digestive issues. Ayurveda suggests that doing so may disrupt digestion and cause discomfort. Some potential issues include:

Bloating: – Drinking water can cause the stomach to swell.Acidity: – It may lead to acid reflux or indigestion.Chakra Imbalance – According to Ayurveda, consuming water after watermelon can disrupt the body's energy balance.

When Can You Drink Water After Eating Watermelon?

To avoid digestive issues, it is recommended to wait at least 40–45 minutes before drinking water after eating watermelon, especially for those with weak digestion. If you feel very thirsty, wait at least 20–30 minutes and take only a few sips of water.
