Gudi Padwa is a Marathi new year prominently celebrated in Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and some parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan. This festival falls on the first day of Chaitra (March-April) in the Hindu lunar calendar; it marks the arrival of spring, the beginning of the harvest season, and a time of prosperity.
In 2025, Gudi Padwa will be observed on Sunday, March 30. Gudi is celebrated by hoisting the Gudi consisting of a bamboo stick, a saffron color cloth, and Kalash decorated with garlands.
