The auspicious festival of Hanuman Jayanti is very special for every devotee, and this year it is being celebrated on April 2. On such occasions, we often buy ready-made boondi from the market to offer as prasad to god, but this Hanuman Jayanti, why not prepare round and sweet boondi at home with your own hands and devotion? Yes, prasad made at home with cleanliness and true devotion has a unique charm. So, without delay, note down this easy recipe to make perfectly juicy, halwai-style boondi.
Ingredients Required for Boondi
For the batter:
1 cup gram flour (besan), sifted
Water as required (to make batter)
Desi ghee for frying
For sugar syrup:
1.5 cups sugar
1 cup water
½ teaspoon cardamom powder (for aroma)
A few strands of saffron
1 teaspoon melon seeds (for garnish)
Easy Method to Make Boondi
First, take sifted gram flour in a bowl. Gradually add water and prepare a smooth batter without lumps. The consistency should neither be too thick nor too thin. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Next, prepare the sugar syrup by heating sugar and water in a pan. Once dissolved, add cardamom powder and saffron. The syrup should be slightly sticky, not too thick. Turn off the flame once ready.
Heat ghee in a pan. Using a perforated ladle (jhara), pour the batter so tiny droplets fall into the hot ghee. Fry until slightly crispy and remove.
Immediately add the hot boondi to the warm syrup and mix well. Let it soak for 20–30 minutes. Once absorbed, garnish with melon seeds. Your delicious homemade boondi prasad is ready.
Tips for Perfect Round Boondi
Clean the ladle from the back after each batch to maintain round shape
If boondi turns flat, batter is too thin—add more besan
If elongated, batter is thick—add a little water
Always fry in hot oil on high flame for fluffy, round boondi
